Although the theory and practical elements can be booked and paid for separately, a discount is applicable should they be booked and paid for together in advance.

The detail of the ‘Part 1 Theory’ and ‘Part 2 Practical’ is the same as the individual courses.

Part 1:
Theory
Part 1, the theory of copper structured cabling can be delivered remotely via Zoom. It is available to be booked and completed immediately, from your home/remote office – all you will need is a computer, tablet or device to allow you to use Zoom. A pdf of the course notes will be given on the day.

Duration: Theory course will last approximately 3.5 hours. The online test is comprised of 30 questions which can be done up to 7 days afterwards .

Part 2:
Practical (Copper or Fibre)
Practical (Part 2) – completed either at our headquarters in Braintree, Essex or elsewhere by arrangement.

Duration: approximately 3.5 hours.

Part 2 can be booked immediately and completed as soon as the current government restrictions are lifted.


Part 1, Theory Only

Overview

Part 2, Practical 

Overview

After successfully completing the theory element (Part 1) and passing the short online test delegates can then book their ‘Part 2’ for practical training.

  • The relationship differing Categories to cabling standards will be understood.
  • Hands-on termination ‘punchdown’ and keystone on Cat 6 and Cat 6a
  • Testing using a Fluke tester

 Course Description:

The Connectix Copper Structured Cabling Course is a 3.5 hour course with a mixture of practical work and hands on exercises used to relate theory and practise to real world scenarios with the following key elements (many more than this) :

Copper Structured Cabling Theory

  • Brief ‘re-cap’ of Part One

Practical Detail

  • Different Category cable construction and selection
  • Presentation of cables into patch panels into panels
  • Review of termination methods with summary
  • Cable preparation for termination (both unshielded and shielded)
  • Practical termination exercises

Copper Link Testing

  • Why test? What to test?
  • Methods of testing (PL, Channel, MPTL)
  • Different types of test equipment
  • Testing exercise

To attend this course you must have either attended ‘Part 1’ or provided evidence of an alternate theory course acceptable to Connectix (at the sole discretion of the trainer prior to booking).

No prior practical experience is required. Delegates will leave with adequate knowledge, confidence and practical experience for successful installation of copper links.

The course is run by a fully qualified Connectix Cabling Systems trainer who is well versed in installations and is constantly updated in line with the rapidly changing standards, technologies and terminologies.

Questions during the course are actively encouraged.
