Get ahead of the competition with Connectix Online Training Sessions
The theory element of our Fibre Optic Cabling courses are available now as ‘instructor led’ online options with the practical element currently available separately.
Most will want to complete both the theory and the practical but it is now possible to undertake the theory only (ideal for PM’s, Directors, IT Teams), as well as both parts, which is completely up to date with the latest standards.
Part 1: Theory | Part 1, the theory of fibre cabling can be delivered remotely via Zoom.It is available to be booked and completed immediately, from your home/remote office – all you will need is a computer, tablet or device to allow you to use Zoom. A pdf of the course notes will be given on the day. Duration: Theory course will last approximately 3.5 hours. The online test is comprised of 30 questions which can be done up to 7 days afterwards . |
Part 2: Practical (Copper or Fibre) | Practical (Part 2) – completed either at our headquarters in Braintree, Essex or elsewhere by arrangement. |
Part 1, Theory Only
Overview
Fibre optic links are becoming an increasingly common part of cabling infrastructures. Installers have to be competent when specifying, terminating, testing and installing fibre optics.
The Connectix Fibre Optic Course provides delegates with the hands-on practical experience (Part 2) and theoretical knowledge (Part 1) needed to successfully deploy fibre links on a site.
Coverage of typical LAN applications and their specific fibre requirements will provide delegates with the confidence to specify the correct type of fibre for an intended application whilst also considering environmental factors.
Coverage of fibre optic testing will demonstrate how to prove successful in cable installation and termination.

Course Introduction
Fibre Optic Cabling Theory
Overall, the 2 parts of the fibre course aim to offer a balanced mix of theory and practice relating to the use of fibre optic cabling within the enterprise/commercial sector. Application standards are also introduced with regard to the importance of their consideration when specifying fibre cable and connector types for particular applications.
This course requires no prior knowledge or experience. Inexperienced delegates will leave with adequate knowledge and confidence for specification and successful installation of fibre optic links.
The ‘Part 2’ practical course will be a natural progression for those who need a hands on practical experience. Delegates new to fibre optic cabling and those already experienced in practical installation will improve their formal knowledge of the theory behind the operation of fibre and the choices available in selection of fibre and termination methods.
The course is run by a fully qualified Connectix Cabling Systems trainer who is well versed in installations and is constantly updated in line with the rapidly changing standards, technologies and terminologies.
Questions during the course are actively encouraged.
